I run in the paths of your commands, for you have set my
heart free. Psalms 119:32 (NIV)
You and I were created to be free and that comes when we
walk in his commands. When we become Christ followers a unique event transpires—we
have been called, chosen if you will, to be free. Yet oddly enough to
experience this freedom there must be a renewal of our inner man. “I ask him to
strengthen you by his Spirit—not a brute strength but a glorious inner
strength—that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in.”
Ephesians 3:16 (The Message)
This is how it is supposed to work… It is an adventure, a
journey if you will, a walk filled with uncertainty because there are just some
things that will take faith and excitement. We know we serve a God that is the
real deal and HE has a plan that involves us and Him.
This journey will require many confessions and
declarations, and this is a great place to begin: Be reminded the tongue holds
the power of life and death and we must start speaking life to live life. “The
tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its
fruit.” Proverbs 18:21 (NIV)
Remember God formed us in His image and then breathed
life in us. God in himself is marked by character, when we lose the character
of God in us we lose the life of God in us. But to have character we must first
die to ourselves. To become like him is what it really means to live. Jesus did
not come to be a warden. He came to be our deliverer. He was so committed to
this that he was willing to die on a cross for our freedom.
Wow! That is a truth, and our values will shift. Our
opinions will get in the right place. Our attitudes will get in line with God. How
we live life becomes so much simpler and become much more powerful. Freedom in
the simplest form is seen as the gift of serving out of love. That is exactly
the model of Christ. Powerful is the point where freedom begins—where we become
like Him. It’s here and only here that freedom exists without boundaries. We
are free to love without limit, to forgive, to be merciful, to be generous, to
be compassionate and risk the sacrifice to enjoy and live… And when you are
free you know it!
Live
Free!
Blessings,
